The gala of the Michelin Guide Spain and Portugal 2021 was held. The ceremony that annually distinguishes luxury restaurants that stand out for the quality of the products, flavor and presentation of their dishes. This year the event was broadcast from Spain, more specifically from Real Casa de Correos, in Porta do Sol, Madrid.

In this very unusual year for the whole world, the catering sector is undoubtedly one of the sectors most affected by the pandemic that is plaguing us. For this reason the ceremony was held yesterday with a few weeks late, usually happens in November, and in a virtual format without an audience due to the restrictions imposed by the pandemic of covid-19, the launch of the guide goes to newsstands today.

Portugal in this 2021 edition maintained the 7 restaurants with 2 stars Micheline and now has 21 with one star. Being that a ‘São Gabriel’ in Almancil lost a restaurant because it closed after being sold. On the other hand, there are two restaurants that won their first star, both in Lisbon, and are the restaurant “100 Maneiras” by chef Ljubomir Stanisic and “Eneko Lisboa” by Basque chef Eneko Atxa, which reaches the sixth Michelin star. So far, Portugal does not have a three-star restaurant, the Michelin Guide's highest rating.
