The iconic 250 GT SWB Berlinetta Competizione racing Ferrari will be replicated by British Ferrari experts at GTO Engineering. With the name "250 GT SWB Revival" it is the new production of GTO Engineering, and is based on one of the most beautiful and iconic racing cars produced by the luxury brand Ferrari, the 250 GT SWB Berlinetta Competizione.
The 250 GT SWB Berlinetta Competizione from 1960, is a legend in classic cars, won at Le Mans, the Tourist Trophy and the Spa-Francorchamps and was described by Sir Stirling Moss as "the best GT in the world." But as is obvious with this rating is not surprising to also be considered one of the most expensive luxury cars, which only the most fortunate collectors can buy and keep religiously kept in their garages so that no mishap happens to them.
The 250 SWB Revival is the perfect alternative, as it is not cheap at around 1 million euros, it has a much lower value than the original copies, which will always exceed 12 million euros. It will be produced using original drawings and measurements and discriminations from the 1960 Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta Competizione. Despite being less than 20 centimeters less than the original. It will be built in the authentic style of the time, with hand-tapped aluminum panels and a tubular chassis. Under bonnet, with a V12 engine, with three different capacities, 3.0 liters, 3.5 liters and 4.0 liters of displacement, all with triple carburetor, and four or five speed manual gearbox. GTO Engineering guarantees at least 285 hp for the most basic version. The braking system is also developed based on the designs of the time and using original materials, but more modern and effective equipment will also be available. Inside, it also has modern records, such as high-quality leather-covered seats, with optional headrests, and in the electronic part it includes elements such as air conditioning, USB ports or navigation system (also optional).
Only 30 units will be produced, and as said by the managing director of GTO Engineering, Mark Lyon. "But it has one major drawback. Because it was made in so few numbers, it’s not really a car you can take to the shops or drive on the lock-stops without fearing damaging the body or destroying originality. "It’s hard to beat perfection the 250 SWB, but you can make it more driveable, liveable, and easier to use on a daily basis," added Lyon. "We wanted to give flexibility to owners who either want a grand tourer, a faster set-up road car or full race car that you can drive to and from events. The 250 SWB Revival was designed to be versatile, usable but also completely customizable."
