The Shelby American Cammer Cobra concept was presented by Meguiar's at the Carlisle Ford Nationals in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. It is the car that Carroll Shelby conceived to race in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1964. In commemoration of the 60th anniversary of Shelby American, the brand built this concept which is at the same time an extraordinary tribute to Carroll Shelby. The Cammer Cobra is based on the Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe S, one of the most acclaimed cars at the time, in shiny chrome with a big engine, which Carroll Shelby always dreamed of and couldn't get for Le Mans.

In the words of Gary Patterson, head of Shelby American “Shelby wanted to fit a huge Ford big block engine into a Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe for Le Mans in 1964. Although many know that a unique car was built with a Ford 427' wedge engine. ', that was not Carroll Shelby's initial vision." He aspired to combine the elegant aerodynamics of the Peter Brock-designed body with the extraordinarily powerful aluminum overhead cam version of the FE engine. But at the time, “it was impossible to get one of these rare engines in time for the race,” Shelby American instead installed the NASCAR 427 V-8 version. “Our concept car was built to fulfill Carroll's initial vision of the Cammer,” added Patterson. “This concept pays homage to the Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe, one of the most celebrated cars in automotive history,” said Patterson. "This answers the 'what if' question for everyone who shared Carroll's dream and will gauge demand for a limited series of the vehicle."

The Shelby Cammer Cobra concept was built according to Shelby's original vision, the 7.0-liter 427 SOHC V8 produced 616 hp with a single four-cylinder carburetor. This model puts out 650hp, has a modified hood to accommodate this powerful engine, is constructed of shiny chrome aluminum and has a three-inch longer chassis. It is combined with a four-speed manual gearbox.

Shelby American is planning to showcase this magnificent concept throughout the year to ponder action for a limited production, if that's the case then it truly will be eternal.
