The 1928 Rolls-Royce Phantom I Ascot Dual Cowl Sport Phaeton is up for auction from Worldwide Auctioneers. This iconic classic car was used by Robert Redford in the 1974 film "The Great Gatsby", an adaptation of the classic novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald.

 

 

The Rolls-Royce Phantom I Ascot Dual Cowl Sport Phaeton is one of the few cars to retain star status alongside a renowned actor like Robert Redford in an iconic film. In the novel Fitzgerald played Jay Gatsby (Robert Redford) is the owner of this Rolls-Royce.

 

 

In the novel, Fitzgerald describes Gatsby's Rolls as: "It was a rich cream color, shiny with nickel, swollen here and there in its monstrous length with triumphant hatboxes and dining boxes and toolboxes, and on terraces with a labyrinth of windshields that mirrored a dozen suns, sitting behind many layers of glass in a kind of green leather greenhouse”.

 

 

This 1928 Rolls-Royce 40/50hp Phantom I Ascot Dual Cowl Sport Phaeton with S304KP chassis is near-perfect after benefiting from a complete restoration by brand experts and a total investment of around $1.2 million.
