The world-renowned Stadium Course at PGA Catalunya Golf and Wellness in Catalonia has benefited from a €1 million intervention in which the main focus is sustainability. The golf resort is number one in Spain and is preparing to host the DP World Tour Catalunya Championship from April 28 to May 1, 2022. PGA Catalunya Golf and Wellness is ranked among the top 20 best golf courses in Continental Europe, welcomes the best golf professionals who will open the newly updated course.
David Bataller, Director of Agronomy at PGA Catalunya said: “We work tirelessly to improve the design and definition of the layout and surroundings of the bunkers, as well as improve the speed and quality of the greens. The addition of fescue grass around the greens, perfectly suited to the Mediterranean climate, will test the best players, while the improved drainage of the Stadium Course's new look will ensure tight all-weather play." He added: "The redesigned 10th hole will challenge tee players on what is now an impressive left leg. On the sixth hole, changes to the tee position and fairway have created more options for players and added a layer of strategy that will test every level of golfer. present the new look of the Stadium Course to the players, spectators and millions of spectators, who will follow the action during the Catalonia Championship”.
The Stadium Course now benefits from a new irrigation system that reduces water by 25% and uses recycled water. The PGA Catalunya thus reinforces efforts to be a sustainable resort that encourages and enhances the eco-diversity of the area.
PGA Catalunya is ready for the DP World Tour with the completion of the golf course renovation with an investment of €1 million. PGA Catalunya ranked 18th in the new Top 100 World Resorts 2021 ranking to continue its reign as the best golf resort in Spain has already outlined investments of more than €11 million in 2022.

The PGA Catalunya Golf Resort opened in 1999 with great recognition, since then it has hosted the first Spanish Open the following year (2000) and two more in 2009 and 2014, nine final stages of the European Tour Qualifying School between 2008 and 2016 and the 2019 European Tour Destinations Senior Classic, as well as the 2021 European Amateur Team Championship, which caused the Stadium Course high praise for its excellent condition and challenging setup.
