At the exclusive gala in Paris, the luxury brand Ferrari presented the 1935 Ferrari 335 S SPYDER and won the “The Peninsula Classics Best of The Best Award”. It was the first among seven other magnificent vehicles nominated for this much coveted award. Each of the classic car is selected due to their performance as winners of Best of Show awards in contests around the world.

The list of prestigious judges features several giants from the automotive sector, among which we highlight Henry Ford III, great-grandson of Edsel Ford who created the Ford Foundation in 1936. Jay Leno, American producer, actor, writer, comedian and car enthusiast, and Nick Mason, known for being the only member of the original Pink Floyd lineup, and of course for his fantastic collection of classic cars.

“It is difficult as a judge to choose a winner for The Peninsula Classics Best of the Best Award because each vehicle has already been selected as one of the best and most prestigious in the world and they’re all immaculate,” said Jay Leno. “For 2019, we selected the Ferrari due to its extremely detailed history, including its racing heritage. Of course, it’s also an incredibly beautiful vehicle.”

First exhibited at the New York International Motor Show in 1959, the Ferrari 335 S Spyder is powered by the legendary Ferrari V12 engine. He was present at several historic races in the United States.

After being passed by owners of several countries, this magnificent classic has been in the hands of Andreas Mohringer, from Salzburg, Austria since 2013, who ordered a complete restoration from Paul Russell and Company, a renowned restoration, preservation and maintenance specialist classic cars, to bring the car back to its original condition.

This spectacular Ferrari had previously won several awards including Concours d'Elegance from Pebble Beach 2017 and 2018, and the Cavallino Classic in 2019.

Upon receiving this award, its owner Andreas Mohringer stated: “This Ferrari is the ultimate combination of beautiful Scaglietti coachwork and racing pedigree, after restoring this extremely noteworthy car back to its former glory, it is an absolute joy to share it with the world. We’re thrilled that the judges have recognized how special this vehicle is and it is a great honour to be presented with this prestigious award.”
