A new luxury hotel, the Hilton Garden Inn, will appear in Évora. The Canadian group Mercan responsible for the project, gave the symbolic start to the construction of this hotel, with the laying of the first stone, and foresees that the building of the hotel will be completed in 2022 and will cost 21 million euros. The Hilton Garden Inn Évora, will have its location next to Rossio de São Brás, very close to the emblematic historic center of the city of Évora. The Mercan project has a partnership with the RA Group (Referência Arrojada Group) in addition to the participation of over 75 foreign investors.
In the opinion of the vice president of the Mercan Group, Jordi Vilanova "Évora has enormous potential as a tourist destination, both for Portuguese and foreigners", he also stressed that this new project "reflects the confidence that international investors maintain in Portugal and that goes beyond the focus on big cities ".
The hotel will have an area of more than eight thousand square meters, which include 130 rooms, an outdoor swimming pool on the roof, with a bar and terrace. A gym, a restaurant and a meeting room with a capacity for up to 130 people are some of the added value of the project.
According to the promoters, the hotel "will create 95 direct jobs when it is operational", and already in this first phase of construction it will involve "80 permanent workers".
"Close to the center of Évora and the main historical points of the city, the hotel will stand out for its vibrant, modern and sophisticated atmosphere where the exterior space is combined with the ingenious details of architecture and with a warm decoration inside, with the aim to create a unique experience for those who visit ", stressed the heads of the Mercan Group.
The project is signed by Rui Silva Russo, Atelier de Arquitetura. The interiors will be developed by the Nano Design studio.
