The luxurious and tourist resort Monte Rei - Golf & Country Club will start building a new golf course. This new course will be located on its South Course, is an 18-hole course by the Jack Nicklaus Signature architect.
Having established the North Course as the best course in Portugal in 2019, the luxury development aims to cement its prominent place in golf resorts throughout Europe, will be one of the selected clubs worldwide to have two courses of the Jack Nicklaus Signature.
The project contemplates a total intervention area of 56 hectares, corresponding 30 hectares to the grassed area of the golf course. Two lakes will be built, which in addition to being obstacles to the game will function as a reservoir for irrigation as well as to improve the visual appearance of the field.
The promoter said that "the project, like the field already built, aims to capture a type of tourist, golf player, very demanding in terms of design quality and construction of the field." Peaks will be "from mid-February to mid-May and from mid-September to late November", thus helping to "mitigate" the seasonality of tourism.
