The British car manufacturer British Racing Motors (BRM), was founded in 1945 with the purpose of racing in Formula 1. Between 1951 and 1977 they competed for a total of 197 grand prix races, of which 17 won, in 1962 the driver Graham Hill at the wheel of a BRM car became World Drivers Champion.

To recall the glory days and on its 70th anniversary, BRM owner John Owen decided to build one of the single-seaters that marked the brand's history, the P15 with its famous engine, V16, the first of just three units ever to be presented delivered to its owner nothing but John Owen himself.

These three iconic F1 classic cars are built with original chassis, manufactured in the 1950s, but which were not used at the time. In fact, to understand the importance of this moment, it is necessary to highlight that this is the first car manufactured by BRM, since 1953. It goes to the detail of being built from original projects conceived in the post-war period, and made over 36,000 parts, all of them individually designed. It has its famous V16, with 1.5 liter of displacement and delivering the impressive power of 599 hp.

John Owen commented “Hearing that V16 engine again after so many years was an incredible moment and a dream come true, a tribute to the tremendous skill, persistence and attention to detail of the 'Hall & Hall' engineering team. (British company specializing in the preparation and restoration of classic single-seaters).

After the first one is finished, they will start building the next two. “It took two years, from original blueprint right up to shakedown, but there are no shortcuts when you’re working to the level of quality, detail and authenticity we needed,” Rick Hall said. “With the first of the three new Mk1 V16 now complete, we will turn our attention to the two remaining chassis numbers,” he added. “With all the technical hurdles now safely overcome, we are supremely confident we can create a truly magnificent, brand new, historically authentic yet entirely raceable 1950s Formula 1 car”.
