Earth 300 - 10 days trip for 3 million

Published: 2021-04-15

This giant of the seas dubbed Earth 300 is much more than a typical explorer ship, as its specifications are different from anything that has ever been done. It is not just the 300 meters that makes the Earth 300 so remarkable, although that factor alone was enough to make it the largest super yacht ever built. But it is every project that brings together an international range of collaborators and specialists united by a common vision, the union between science, technology and luxury for the protection of the planet.

It all started when Aaron Olivera, CEO of Earth 300, met Iddes Yachts naval architect Ivan Jefferson in a small village in northern Sweden. And immediately the two shared the ideas they had in "joining science and exploration to face the greatest challenges on Earth and solve them". Aaron Olivera wanted a vessel totally different from what already exists; "The ship will feature resources found on cruises, expeditions, research and luxury yachts, but it will be none of them," he commented in a statement.

Most of this project is devoted to cutting-edge scientific equipment and technologies directly from Silicon Valley. The Earth 300 is composed of 22 state-of-the-art laboratories, built on the black globe present on the stern deck that constitute the “scientific city”. In Jefferson's words “We wanted to create a design that could inspire. When someone looks at the sphere, we wanted them to be inspired to protect the Earth. When someone entered the sphere, now housing the city of science, and felt the action of all the scientific work in progress, we wanted them to be inspired to become an alchemist of global solutions ”.

In addition to the impressive scientific equipment, this yacht also has an observation deck located in front of the vessel, which will offer incomparable views of the oceans through which it will sail. The foredeck has a helipad for a helicopter that can support aerial exploration, while providing transportation to and from the ship when necessary.
This mega yacht has the capacity to accommodate more than 425 people. Divided in a total of 160 scientists, 20 resident specialists, 20 students, who traveled for free, and about 165 crew members. But there will also be space for about 40 VIP guests, housed in luxury suites, which will pay $ 3 million for each 10-day trip, it will be the way to make the venture profitable.

To reach the point of construction where this super yacht is located, about 5 million dollars and six years of work have already been spent. But those responsible for Earth 300 estimate that the total cost is between 500 million and 700 million dollars. Its launch is scheduled for 2025.
