Italian shipbuilder Benetti has unveiled a new eco-friendly superyacht launched from the Livorno shipyard off the coast of Tuscany. It was named B.Yond Voyager and measures a total of 37 meters. This is the first of Benetti's new Voyager series, the yacht is equipped with hybrid technology, making her one of the most economical and eco-friendly yachts to sail. Which led Benetti to claim that it is the “greenest boat in its class”.
The B.Yond Voyager was designed by Paolo Vitelli, founder and president of the Azimut Benetti Group, and the late architect Stefano Righini. Together they decided not to opt for the typical fiberglass and instead opt for a steel hull designed for long-range cruising. This superyacht features an intuitive Siemens Energy E-Mode Hybrid (diesel-electric) propulsion system and SCR filters for emissions control. Navigation can be switched between four different modes for further optimization of energy consumption. In all-electric mode, it allows zero-emissions navigation to, for example, navigate in protected areas.
The lithium battery provides up to eight hours of autonomy in day mode and 12 hours at night. Batteries can only be recharged in three hours.
Benetti assures that the hybrid configuration can reduce fuel consumption and CO2 by up to 24% and NOx by up to 85%, in addition to reducing noise and vibrations on board. According to Benetti, the Voyager has almost twice the range of classic yachts of the same size.
The customizable interior, designed by Mauro Izzo, includes a panoramic lounge known as “the games room”, a wine cellar, four guest cabins and crew quarters. There is also a gym on the lower deck that can be turned into a sixth cabin, the captain's cabin can be split to add a seventh cabin. It is decorated in “a natural color palette” with ocean-inspired blue and white accents.
Outside, the upper deck offers a completely unobstructed 360 degree view, and is equipped with an outdoor dining area. The bridge deck is reserved for the owner. The garage is spacious and can store a tender, a rescue boat and two jet skis.
