Set in the beautiful and serene Tyne Valley, only seven miles outside the centre of Newcastle and nestled between the banks of the River Tyne, the 250-year-old Close House estate has been lovingly formed into two of the best courses in the country. Situated near the ancient remains of Hadrian’s Wall, we present the only Lee Westwood golf courses in the UK – one being our stunning Colt Course.

Gaining a place in the UK’s top 100 golf courses, our two 18-hole Lee Westwood Championship Colt and Filly courses and 9-hole Yearling course are something worth admiring. Close House provides one of the most varied golfing challenges on the golfing map to date, so much so that we are recognised for being the home of championship golf in the North East. This European Tour venue is designed to appeal to players of all skill levels and golfing ability, whereby we reward first-time visitors and our year-round members equally. The PGA Academy provides the opportunity to polish and develop your golfing ability using the latest technology to analyse your game.
