Margarida Pimentel

Born in 1955 in a small fishing village in Portugal, only in 1992 she could fulfill her dream starting an intensive jewellery course at the well known contemporary jewellery school “Contacto Directo” in Lisbon.

In the course of her learning process she took part in several workshops and conferences with famous national and international jewellers.

In 1995, after having started her career as jewellery designer, she established the “Centro de Joalharia do Porto”, a contemporary gallery and school where she worked as director and teacher.

Since then she extended the scope of her work organizing and participating in several exhibitions, promoting shows, taking part in fairs and in jewellery contest juries, always having in mind the diffusion and development of the portuguese contemporary jewellery.

In 1998, both the school and herself were officially certified by the Portuguese government.

In 1999 Margarida Pimentel was granted the insignia of “Oficial da Ordem do Mérito” due to her performance.
